Jon Lee Software Engineer

When did you join Ozette?

I came to the company in October of 2022.

What motivated you to become a Software Engineer?

I wanted to use my mind to build things.

What prompted you to come to Ozette

I arrived at this point where I enjoyed what I was doing, but not necessarily who I was doing it for. Somewhat by chance, I came across the opportunity here at Ozette where I could be part of this grander effort. I get to help discover therapies for the betterment of our health. A small, but important piece of that statement is when I say ‘our’ I mean all of us, as a human collective and the reason I point that out is because that idea is embedded in both Ozette’s mission and our culture. It’s part of our drive and also part of why I’m here.

What does a typical day at Ozette look like?

We are a diverse team and move adaptively; at times navigating different routes, but with the same destination in mind. Each day is different, but carries similar patterns. In other words, you get exposed, do, and learn new things from different domain experts all the time, but continue to do what you’re an expert at and all of that contributes to progress.

What does the future look like at Ozette to you?

We’re going to continue navigating our path for our mission. This includes both building our technology and our culture. Things will change along the way, as is inevitable, but we will continue to work towards the larger initiative of unlocking insights that will have a positive impact on people’s lives.
