From technology built and proven at Fred Hutch, Ozette is creating a revolutionary immune profiling platform to turn data into actionable insights. Our software is integral to our mission and enhancing insights by 10x in volume and resolution—scientists, clinicians and our teams—will accelerate breakthroughs to drive better patient outcomes.

Ozette's collaborative platform enables unprecedented transparency and reproducibility through its version-controlled analysis pipeline. Currently we are using Typescript and React/RecoilJS and Python/Flask on the backend with data primarily stored in PostgreSQL and S3 utilizing parquet and protocol buffer data formats. Our backend data analysis services are implemented in C++ and R.

What you'll do at Ozette:

Extend, maintain, and scale the backend of the platform system that queries, stores, and processes and visualizes single cell data from hundreds of millions of single cells in near real time across tens of thousands of individuals
Communicate and document technical designs and requirements
Implement automation tests to assess accuracy and performance of implemented backend apis
Troubleshoot and implement fixes for reported issues
Collaborate with product team to provide input on development options affecting scope and timelines of product features
Collaborate with engineering team members to support and advance their work through reviews and feedback

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

Demonstrated fluency with C++
Experience with gRPC
Experience with parquet and protocol buffer data formats
Experience with implementing client-server architecture
A deep technical understanding of databases and experience building them
Experience with numerical computing and scientific programming
Experience building high performance data analytic pipelines
MSc in computer science or equivalent experience
An inclusive and entrepreneurial mindset: be a creative thinker, get things done, take failure in stride, derive signal from ambiguity, and be a champion for the team
An interest in learning biological sciences and digging into new challenges
